In her live discussion she answered my questions, and a few of the readers questions so we could get to know her and her work a little better. Scroll down and see what she had to say. 1. Are you a full-time or part-time author? How does that affect your writing?
I am a part-time author. I work a full-time job from 7-3 Monday-Friday. So usually I write after work. Majority of my writing is done on the weekend.
2. What kind(s) of writing do you do?
I write urban romance.
3. What’s the biggest thing that people think they know about your genre that isn’t so?
I think the biggest thing that people think they know about urban romance is that there is just one style of romance but there are different areas that you can romance. There is mystery, paranormal, suspense, horror, comedy, and drama but it can still have that romance.
4. Is there anything about the writing life you think is misunderstood by the public?
I think that people think it is easy to start writing but when you are an author you really want to make your craft better and make sure your storyline is captivating. So you do things like outlining, building characters, editing, proofreading and the constant deleting and editing. Than you want readers to enjoy your craft, so than comes in promos. So overall a lot goes into being an author.
5. How many books have you written?
So far, I have written four books. My fourth book dropped May 27th.
6. If someone is brand new to your work, what book do you think they should start with?
I suggest starting with This Special Moment. In This Special Moment I feel as people can relate to Baylee because of what she experienced.
7. What’s the title of your most recent book?
Thin Line Between Love and Success
8. How did you come up with the title of the book?
Thin Line Between Love and Success comes from the main character, Femi. She feel as if she has to decide between the two, love and success. She feels as if it wouldn’t be possible to have both which help me create the title.
9. What’s the back of the book summary?
Success is something we all want out of life. It is when a person achieves desired aims or attains prosperity. But what happens when love is thrown in between success?
After taking a devastating blow to the heart, Femi packed her things and moved to L.A. to pursue her dreams of becoming the number one producer in L.A. She puts her mind, body, and soul into her new reality show Is She the One? because Femi wants to reach the top at any means. What happens when her success is potentially altered by the one thing that caused her to run away?
Brendan Cole has been off the market for a while. The only thing that mattered to him was his son and family. Brendan has everything one could wish for except a woman by his side to enjoy the fruits of his labor. Being hit with the idea from his twin sister to try out for a new reality show, he decides to bite the bullet and take his chances at love.
After having their first encounter, Femi and Brendan can’t seem to take their minds off of each other. However, with Femi, she does not want to risk losing everything she worked so hard far. Is there really a such thing as having both love and success, or is there a thin line between love and success?
10. Tell us about the main characters.
Femi is going through the motions once she meets Brendan. She is taken back by his handsome features and his ability to command the room. However due to her job she knows that getting into anything with him can risk her chances at being successful. While on the other hand Brendan is not thinking about a job he is more concerned about being with Femi in the long run. The two go through obstacles with hopes of being able to come out on top.
