September is National Library Card Sign Up Month! If you don't already have a library card, this post is a clear sign that you should go apply for one. The process to get your library card typically varies from state to state, but filling out an application is one thing that is consistent for all libraries. Most states require you to come in person to fill out your application and require a valid ID. Some libraries will accept passports or military IDs as well. Your ID will need to have an address that is located in the county/parish you are applying in. There are a few libraries that allow you to fill out an online application to apply for an E-Card, which will allow you to access their digital media (movies, ebooks, audiobooks, etc.). A quick Google search will tell you if this is done in your state. If you are between the ages of 13-18 you will need a parent or guardian to apply. Here are 5 benefits to having a library card:
Download eBooks
Stream movies and music
Learn a new career skill
Access to digital software
Read old newspapers and magazines
