Books That Made a Bang in 2019

2019 was filled with tons of great books. Me and my counterparts have came up with a list of must read books that dropped in 2019. Hope you guys check them out!

Heartbreak U by Johnni Sherri

Johnni Sherri came out swinging in 2019 with her Heartbreak U Series. This book with was filled with lovable and relatable characters. I can't wait to see where these characters take us in 2020 with their highly anticipated spin-off novels.

Hoodwinked by Desiree

Desiree is one of this industry's most unique gems. A writer that truly writes to the beat of her own drum. She has the ability to tell stories unlike anyone else and take your mind places they’ve never been before. In Hoodwinked you’ll get the perfect blend of comedy, mystery and romance, with a huge dollop of drama on the side.

Set by Alexandria House

If you thought the McClain brother were hot... You definitely have to check out Them Boys. Ms. House has fine tuned the art of sex in this series! This book is a novella, but you won't feel short changed after reading.

Let Me Hear A Rhyme by Tiffany D. Jackson

This book is a young adult book, but don't let that deter you. The story line isn't immature or childish. This book has great friendships and great music and your kids can read it with you.

Sincerely, Me by Charae Lewis

This standalone will pull different types of emotions from you at one time while taking you on a rollercoaster. Charae Lewis most definitely wrote a masterpiece with this one. The pain and the emotions of the characters in this book is so deep that you will feel it through the pages.

Tasha's Got A Baby by S. Yvonne

This emotional standalone will leave you with a tear stained face and a broken heart. S. Yvonne penned the story of so many forgotten project babies. This book was enjoyable and relatable from the beginning to the very end. This book is most definitely a 5 star read all across the board.

Hook Shot by Kennedy Ryan

This book is part 3 in a series, but it can also be read as a stand-alone. If you are looking for the perfect book bae... Keenan Ross is definitely your guy. The chemistry that him and Lotus share is unforgettable. Love with a side of basketball is a win-win in my book.

He Who Is A Friend (The Sadik Series) by Love Belvin

Love Belvin is such a gifted author, creating so much passion and intensity with her words. He Who Is a Friend is about Sadik and Bilan, two people from opposite ends of the track that were never supposed to be. With Bilan falling head over heels for such a powerful man, ignoring all the red flags while keeping secrets of her own, it truly makes for one suspenseful read.

So Deep In My Feelings by Shan

Shan gave it to you raw and uncut from the very beginning with this series. This book was a real page turner and kept you wanting more and more with every page. All the drama and secrets will leave you satisfied until the very end.

Ethic by Ashley Antoinette

You can't have a book discussion without mentioning this book. Ashley stepped outside the box and gave her fans the best thing they never knew they needed. This non-traditional urban fiction book has classic written all over it. Even though this book is titled Ethic, I have three words for you, Messiah, Messiah, Messiah.

When My Soul Met a Thug by Jessica Watkins

This book is was so heartbreaking but beautiful at the same time. True was the definition of a strong black woman. Even through all the storms and trials she was facing she was still strong and kept a smile on her face. This book will speak to your soul and make you appreciate life a little bit more.

A Love Affair for Eternity by C. Wilson

The “A Love Affair for Eternity” series by C. Wilson is an urban love story that builds upon the characters from “Love in Between the White Lines”. It beautifully and realistically tells the story of Eternity and her struggles while attempting to start anew by relocating to Tennessee. Conflict and challenges arise when Eternity’s past interferes with her complicated present. This page turning book is a must read. It is filled with romance, drama, and suspense and I can not wait until February for the conclusion!

Rhyme & Reason by Nia Forrester

Nia Forrester’s writing is simplistically beautiful and classic. With Rhyme & Reason she gives us more of one of her most popular couple, Zora and Deuce. But instead of them going through their usual college romance troubles, they’ve moved on to real grown up issues. Is their love enough to build a future together or has too much happened in the past? Their story is definitely a must read.

Mahogny by Nako

While all three books in The Drought series are spectacular, Mahogany sets the tone. The storyline is two-fold; initially about loss, remorse and pain but then grows into a beautiful story of new beginnings, blossoming love and the union of two souls. Unlike some of Nako's work in the past this series is less urban and a tad bit more romantic, but it's excellent writing just the same. Definitely a must read.

Seven Minutes in Heaven: A Hood Love Story by Elle Kayson

Elle Kayson did not come to play with this one. The youth and innocence of Taleah and Liam made this love story beautiful. Seven minutes in heaven could lead you to lifetime in hell. This book will take you through so many twist and turns but who wants a perfect love story.
