In masks and gowns we haunt the street and hand out books for Book or Treat

Yesterday was probably the best Halloween I’ve had in a long time. HHB Literary Donations & Charities participated in the city of DeSoto’s October Fun Fest. This was our first time participating in an event that wasn’t hosted by us, so it was truly a big deal to us.

When registering for the event, we were told to prepare for about 125-150 kids, but let me tell you, we were not prepared for the crowd that ultimately showed up! Luckily, we were blessed to be able to purchase 300 books for the kids and believe it or not—that still wasn’t enough! The event was scheduled from 5:30-7:30, and our inventory was depleted by 6:30. Definitely good problems to have, but next year, if we’re able to attend, we’ll be more prepared.

We had such a great time being able to serve. The cutest mascot ever, Sasha Rae, was such a huge help, and her mama needs to pay her for her services.

It’s always a shocker to me to see how excited the kids are to receive books. The perception is that our kids don’t want to read, but we’re proven time and time again, that that’s just not true. The kids were so excited to receive their Halloween bags, which had a book and candy in it. Truly made our hearts smile.

Huge shout out and thank you to all those who donated to help make this event a success. Your consistent love and support will never go unnoticed.

Next month is Youth Homelessness Awareness Month. HHB Literary Donations & Charities will be donating books to the kids who reside in Arlington Life Shelter. If you feel moved to do so, feel free to either send a monetary donation or a book donation. All books are accepted. For mailing info, please inbox one of the HHB admins. Love y’all to life
